The fitness business is booming right now. Which are the best fitness franchises to invest in for new entrepreneurial business owners?

7 Super Franchise Fitness Companies for Entrepreneurs to Buy

There are dozens of fitness franchise businesses to choose from, which makes it difficult for an entrepreneur to decide which to buy. Certainly, the fitness business is bouncing back after the pandemic; and it is evolving for the ‘new normal’. There are profits to be made, but you must invest in the best fitness franchise for you. Here’s our list of seven of the best.

Anytime Fitness

Anytime Fitness has been operating as a franchise model since 2002. With almost 5,000 units offering one-to-one, small group, and large group training, it is a large and extraordinarily successful business.

It operates a 24-hour access system for members and offers automated tanning and vending services.

To be considered as a franchisee, you’ll need to complete an online learning course and an assessment. After which you will receive full initial training that includes classroom training and in-person coaching.

You get a protected territory, with a radius of up to three miles.

With a range of investment totals from around $50k to $700k, Anytime Fitness is suitable for all investment budgets.

Snap Fitness 24/7

Another fitness franchise that offers 24/7 gym access to members, Snap Fitness 24/7 has been franchising since 2004. It offers a range of activities and classes, and uses advanced fitness equipment and technologies across its 1,250-odd locations.

Initial training of four days is delivered to at least two people in your business, and onboarding training, too. Your business will have a location of at least a one-city block, or in rural locations up to a three-mile driving distance.

You’ll need to be committed to working full-time in the gym. Total investment is between $145k and $480k for a 10-year franchise agreement.

9Round Fitness

9Round Fitness operates a specialized and proprietary circuit training system incorporating boxing and kickboxing. Franchisees can operate one or more centers.

Like Snap Fitness 24/7, training is given to two people, and you must be one of them. Training lasts four days.

With a protected location of at least one block or three miles in rural areas, you’ll be expected to be open at least 58 hours per week (subject to state laws).

And the investment amount? Between around $95k and $200k.

Fit Body Bootcamp

Fit Body Bootcamp was founded in 2009, and is a great option even for those who aren’t personal trainers. Currently operating in over 500 locations, and having served over one million clients, it is actively seeking new franchisees.

Training is provided over five days at its California headquarters, and you will meet existing, successful owners. You will also have access to all the resources you need to open and operate your business successfully.

You’ll get an exclusive territory, ongoing training, and many other valuable resources. The investment amount is between around $150k and £215k.

Gold’s Gym

Gold’s Gym has a long and profitable history, having been founded in 1965 and franchising since 1980. All its 700+ locations offer equipment that includes cardio and resistance training, and personal training, and group fitness sessions. Most gyms also provide a kids’ club, pro shop, and locker room services.

Initial training includes 30 hours in the classroom and five hours of on-the-job training. Additional training is provided to cover optional studio programs.

Investment levels range between around $2.2 million to $5 million.

CycleBar

CycleBar was founded in 2014, and as its name suggests offers fitness sessions based on indoor cycling. The concept is quite different to regular gyms – workouts are provided on an experiential model, with ‘rides’ for all ages and abilities in a state-of-the-art CycleTheatre®.

This franchise business is growing rapidly, and is the largest cycling franchise in the world right now, and has been ranked in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 three years running, Fastest-Growing Franchises in 2021, and Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list.

You’ll be helped to find a location, guided through site build-out, and receive comprehensive training.

The cost? You should expect a total investment amount of between $250k and $500k.

UFC Gym

UFC Gym has been operating a franchise model since 2003 and has around 150 units at the time of writing.

The model is mixed martial arts, offering functional fitness training including cardio boxing and kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, weight rooms, and bag areas. You’ll receive two days of business training (which is also provided to your general manager and up to three others).

Targets for minimum gross revenues must be hit, except during the first year. The initial franchise term will run for 10 years, with a total investment of anything between $200k and $1 million.
